HISTORY

MORE THAN A SHOW.

The history of theatre is a rich tapestry of human emotion and experience. From ancient Greece to Shakespeare, from Ibsen to Tennessee Williams, the stage has been a place where we can explore our deepest fears and desires, where we can laugh and cry and feel every emotion in between.

The best plays are the ones that make you question what you thought you knew, that leave you breathless and moved to your core. The plays that stay with you long after the curtain falls, that make you think and feel and question your own life.

“It was that power of live theatre that inspired me, John, to start Rising Phoenix Rep. I wanted to create a company that would push boundaries and make audiences question what they thought they knew. I wanted to create a company that would leave audiences breathless and moved to their core, that would create experiences that stay with people for a lifetime. I wanted to create a company that would be more than just a theatre group, but a movement. And that’s exactly what we’re doing here at Rising Phoenix Rep.”

The plays that our ensemble has performed are not just shows, they are experiences that stay with you forever.

“The Crucible” for example, is not just a play about the Salem witch trials, it’s a play that holds a mirror to our own society and makes us question the very nature of truth and justice. The raw emotion and power of that production left audiences breathless.

“Scorned by Death” is one of the most powerful productions our company has ever put into play. It’s a play that delves into the darkest corners of the human experience and makes us confront our own mortality. It’s a play that will make you think, feel, and question your own life. It’s a play that will leave you breathless and moved to your core.

Live theatre is so important to our company because it’s where imagination comes to life and where human connection is made in its purest form.

It’s where we can make you laugh, cry, and feel every emotion in between. It’s where we can push boundaries and make you question what you thought you knew. It’s where we can leave you with a sense of awe and wonder, to make you feel alive.

Theatre is not just a form of entertainment, it’s a way of life, a way of understanding the world and ourselves. It’s a way of connecting with others, and it’s a way of feeling alive.
